Today we will prepare a local Khmer meal to offer this to the monks. Buddhist monks live away from their families and are not allowed to have normal jobs. They depend on the faith and charity of the local people. At 07.30am a chef from a local village takes us for grocery shopping at a food market, where you will decide on the menu of the day. After we have learnt the secrets of Khmer cooking, the chef and his wife show us how to pack the meal and some rice into a banana leaf. A short walk takes us to the pagoda where the monks live so you can hand them the gift and receive their blessing, along with answers to your questions regarding Cambodian culture and Buddhism.
