Wooden houses rise overhead on 10-meter tall stilts, surrounded by water in the wet season and flood plains in the dry season. In the morning we visit a lively local market to shop with the locals. Upon arrival at our stilt house destination, we are welcomed with milk and coffee before joining in cooking local Khmer food. This community of Kamphong Kleang knows many inventive ways to catch fish and locals are more than happy to share their secrets. We learn about the village life while visiting a local school, watching catfish being smoked, and speaking to fishermen repairing their nets. In the late afternoon, when the sun is almost down, we take a boat on the Tonle Sap to watch an amazing sunset before our return to Siem Reap.
