For those wishing to see sites off the beaten track, this morning we will first visit a temple built on the side of a ravine north of Nyaung U, before heading towards the town itself. The busy market in Nyaung U is a very lively affair each morning when people from all around town come to buy their vegetables, herbs, meats and all other ingredients needed for their daily meals. Your guide will give you a list of 3 different kind of snacks typical to the region, for you to buy and taste yourselves. There will be some more time left to buy some souvenirs and local specialities if you wish. Afterwards, we continue to Taungbi village where we will visit the old wooden monastery built for royalty and two other temples that are not so well known but certainly worth a visit.
