The Oudong Trail offers great day of activities and exploration of an area less travelled. Traveling by car or, for the adventurers among us, by bicycle, the distance is around 40 km. We pass the old colonial railway station and into wide open spaces among rice fields and villages. We ride on small trails and back roads with friendly people waving to us as we go. Around lunchtime we arrive at Oudong Mountain, with a towering temple perched on the top. This area was Cambodia's capital for around 200 years until it was moved to what is now Phnom Penh. Enjoy lunch at this commanding viewpoint before we ride a little further and then take a van or remoque (a motorbike powered trailer) back to Phnom Penh.
